This summer we will get to know nine of our teachers and three administrators as well all enjoy a beautiful summer in West Michigan! Please join us each week as we learn about their friends and families and how they plan to spend their summers recharging!
This week we are getting to know Jenison High School History and Government teacher, Kelly Krepps. Kelly and his wife, Traci, have a son named Graham.
Please tell us about your family and/or the people you plan to spend time with this summer?
This summer will probably be very similar to all other summers my wife and I have spent together. We will spend time with our families. My in-laws are both retired and so is my father. All of them retired as public school teachers. My mom is still working as a reading specialist in the Grandville district. My wife Traci and I had a baby boy (Graham) in October so this will be his first summer.
Any fun summer plans?
Each year we spend the majority of the summer at my parents cottage near Trufant or at my in-laws cottage near Irons. Either way I plan to relax and do a lot of fishing. I also need to figure out how to teach my 7 month old son how to swim in the lake.
Please share a favorite childhood summer memory.
I have a ton of great summer memories since both of my parents were teachers. We spent a lot of time away from home during the summer months. June, July, and August were normally spent at Brower Park near Big Rapids. The park is located on the Muskegon River above the Croton dam. We would spend 3-4 weeks in a row up at the campground. My father owned a speedboat so my sister and I learned to slalom ski and knee-board at a young age.
What’s on your summer reading list?
I am trying to find time to finish the book, Last Men Out by Bob Drury. It is the true story about 11 marines who were the last to leave Vietnam during the 1975 evacuation of Saigon.
Mr Krepps sportin a mustache! [And fishing!]
