This summer we will feature some 2014 – 2015 school year highlights as well as some of the exciting things that Jenison Public Schools are doing throughout the summer! Please join us each week to discover something new and celebrate a fantastic and exciting school year!
The coming school year will bring a new face to the Bursley Elementary School family. After a season of interviews, parent input meetings and reference checks, we are please to welcome Wayne Brown to Jenison Public Schools!
In a letter to Bursley parents, Superintendent, Tom TenBrink, had this to say about Mr. Brown: “He is a proven listener who knows how to build a high functioning team. His calm approach to dealing with school crises is appreciated by those with whom he has worked in the past. Mr. Brown is a strong advocate for all children and works diligently to insure their success. He is a strong instructional leader who makes decisions based on data and research proven practices. There is no question in my mind that he will be able to build and maintain a safe and positive learning environment at Bursley Elementary.
This personable and talented educator graduated from Grand Valley State University in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. As a lifelong learner, he also earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the same university in 2000. He is currently pursuing a Specialist’s degree. His academic preparation and on the job training provides him with the knowledge and experience to insure that the Bursley students will receive a World Class 21st century education.
He comes to our district with a vast array of administrative experience. Mr. Brown has served as the principal of Charlotte Middle School for the past seven years. In addition, he also took on the added responsibilities as the Charlotte Public Schools Technology Director during the 2013-2014 school year. I am convinced that his fifteen years of administrative experience, which includes five years as an elementary principal, and six years as a kindergarten classroom teacher will serve your children, you, and the staff extremely well.”
Mr Brown is excited to get started and says, “In the short time since I’ve been hired, I have been truly impressed by the welcome from the staff and community. I am thrilled to be charged with continuing the great work that Bursley is known for while collaboratively developing new and evolving ideas that will further strengthen the learning experience.
Education is always about what is best for students. This focus on students is why we are here and has helped ensure the high standard of excellence at Bursley Elementary and Jenison Public Schools. I am humbled and honored to serve this community working to ensure that every child in this school receives the best education possible.”
