2014 – 2015 Jenison High Highlights

This summer we will feature some 2014 – 2015 school year highlights as well as some of the exciting things that Jenison Public Schools are doing throughout the summer!  Please join us each week to discover something new and celebrate a fantastic and exciting school year!

To celebrate the amazing things that happened this past year at Jenison High School, here is a letter from Principal, Dr. Brandon Graham:

JHS Parents + Community Members,

I would like to thank the Jenison community for another great school year—we have much to
be celebrate! As we have mentioned in previous communications, U.S. News and
World Report ranked Jenison High School in the top 5% of all High Schools this spring.
It’s an honor to have the hard work and dedication of our teachers, staff members and
students recognized!

At the beginning of this year, we talked about the importance of approaching everything
with a growth mindset. Our students have persevered and worked extremely hard to
make the 2014-15 school year a huge success and we can now look back on countless
examples of students going above and beyond. Academically, we set a school record of
having over 600 Advanced Placement exams taken. Success on these exams equate to
numerous college credits for our students before they ever leave JHS.

Our Performing Arts and Visual Arts programs continue to thrive. This fall our band was
named runner-up at the Michigan State Championships. The 2015 senior class won
three consecutive championships and one runner-up designation during their amazing
career. Our Choral and Orchestra programs also continued to shine throughout
2014-15, earning top ratings at our festival performances. Lastly, compliments to our
thespians on amazing performances highlighted by our spring musical, Oklahoma, in

Athletically, our students had an excellent spring competing in the OK White
Conference. Aside from a third consecutive conference championship by our girls’ track
and field team, we had 23 students named All-Conference athletes and 5 named All-
State for their accomplishments.

Again, I can’t say enough about how proud I am of the students and staff at Jenison
High School. What a wonderful year! Enjoy your summer!
Brandon W. Graham, Ph.D.
